This £2 coin was issued in 2020 to mark the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower to the ‘New World’. 102 passengers sailed on the Mayflower from Plymouth, England, on 16 September 1620, in hope of a fresh start. The reverse design of this coin, by Chris Costello, depicts the Mayflower ship with its sails out and the inscription of ‘Mayflower’ and the year date. The fifth portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II, by Jody Clark, features on the obverse.
