Coin Information:

This £5 coin is the ninth heraldic beast in The Royal Mint’s Queen’s Beasts Coin Series, featuring the White Greyhound of Richmond. Guarding Westminster Abbey during her coronation in 1953, the ten fantastical beasts represent the Queen’s genealogy – safeguarding Her Majesty from her coronation day and throughout her unprecedented reign. In heraldry, the White Greyhound of Richmond has roots dating back to Edward III, with ties to the House of Lancaster and the Tudor family. This coin’s reverse design is by Jody Clark, who also designed the obverse portrait of HM QE II.
