The Royal Mint issued this 50p as part of a three-coin series celebrating Mary Anning and discovery of some of the world’s greatest fossils on the Jurassic Coast. This 50p features a design of the Temnodontosaurus, which was Anning’s first discovered Ichthyosaur, by renowned Palaeo artist Robert Nicholls. This coin was issued in collaboration with the Natural History Museum with the expert guidance of Sandra Chapman of the Earth Sciences Department. The obverse features a portrait of HM QEII by Jody Clark.
