Coin Information:

On 4th May 2017 Buckingham Palace announced that the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, would retire from public duty. This is after an incredible 70 years of service to the Queen, the United Kingdom, and the Commonwealth. To honour this milestone, The Royal Mint issued a brand new UK £5 coin paying tribute to Prince Philip. The reverse of the coin features a portrait of The Duke of Edinburgh by the highly respected designer Humphrey Pagent, who is recognised as one of the finest and most prolific designers of the 20th century. This portrait of Prince Philip was one of his last significant commissions before his death in 1974.
