Circulating mintage: Commemorative Only
Years of issue:
The 2019 Battle of Britain 50p was reissued in 2019 as part of the 50th Anniversary of the 50p Celebrations. The Victoria Cross is the highest award for gallantry that a British and Commonwealth serviceman can achieve. The original version of this design for the 150th Anniversary of the VC was reportedly personally vetoed by Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown as it appeared to show a soldier being shot in the back.
This coin was released as a Brilliant Uncirculated commemorative issue in the Military History 50p set and did not enter general circulation.
