Coin Information:

The White Horse of Hanover £5 coin was issued in 2020 and is the eighth coin to be released in The Queen’s Beasts Collection by The Royal Mint. The collection celebrates the ten ancestral beasts of heraldry, myth and legend that have watched over Her Majesty the Queen throughout her unprecedented reign. The White Horse of Hanover links to the Queen through medieval times, when George I was crowned, and is one of the 10 heraldic beasts that guarded the temporary western annexe to Westminster Abbey for HM Queen Elizabeth’s coronation in 1953. The reverse design by Jody Clark features the uncrowned Horse on its hind legs, protecting the Hanover shield. The obverse features the fifth portrait of Her Majesty the Queen and has also been designed by Jody Clark.
