This £5 coin is the tenth and final beast to be issued as part of The Royal Mint's Queen's Beasts £5 series. It celebrates the Griffin of Edward III. The Griffin was first used as a royal beast by Edward III and in this £5 coin's design, we see the Griffin featured against the coronation shield depicting Windsor Castle, where Edward founded the Order of the Garter in 1348. The obverse of this coin features Jody Clark's portrait of HM QEII.
