Coin Information:

This coin is the second to have been issued in The Royal Mint’s Wonderland Collection. It features a design by Ffion Gwillim, inspired by Sir John Tenniel’s original illustrations in Lewis Carroll’s ‘Through the Looking-Glass’. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland was first published in 1865 and was so popular that its sequel, Through the Looking-Glass followed closely in 1871. This £5 coin’s reverse features an image of Alice, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, and eagle-eyed collectors and literature fans alike may also spot the umbrella that the twins bustle around with in their first meeting with Alice. The obverse features the fifth portrait of HM QEII by Jody Clark.
