The final coin in the Royal Mint’s Iconic Specimens Collection featured the docile Diplodocus. Known for its incredible length, the Diplodocus could reach up to 90 feet long, with the neck alone measuring 26 foot! The reverse design, by paleo-artist Robert Nicholls depicts a Diplodocus with its winding neck and serpentine tail. A Diplodocus skeleton features in the foreground, further emphasizing the creature’s sheer length. The inscriptions ‘DIPLODOCUS’ and ‘JURASSIC’ also feature on the design.
