Han Solo™ and Chewbacca™ 50p

The fourth and final character duo coin in the UK Star Wars 50p series is here! It features Rebel Alliance hero, Han Solo™ and his trusty co-pilot and lovable Wookiee, Chewbacca™.

Special design feature

Like the past three coins in the series, the out-of-this-world Han Solo™ and Chewbacca™ 50p includes a special lenticular feature, which changes between the insignia of the Rebel Alliance and the Millennium Falcon.

Rarely seen on 50p coins, this special minting technique adds to the collectability of these already popular coins.

Luke Skywalker™ & Princess Leia™ 50p

The third coin in the UK Star Wars™ 50p series has finally been released, and features none other than the galaxy’s most iconic brother-sister duo… Luke Skywalker™ and Princess Leia™

That’s right, the third coin in the UK Star Wars™ 50p series features the much-loved Jedi, Luke Skywalker™ and Rebel Alliance leader, Princess Leia™.

Special design feature

As we’ve come to expect with these extraordinary coins, a special lenticular feature appears above the iconic duo. On the Luke Skywalker™ and Princess Leia™ 50p coin, this unique feature shows the Winged Jedi Crest when tilted one way, and the Rebel Alliance Starbird when tilted the other way.

Lenticular Feature

We rarely see this minting technology on UK 50p coins, which is bound to add to the collectability of these already popular coins.

Luke Skywalker™ can be seen holding his lightsabre in the foreground, whilst Princess Leia™ is seen stood to his right. Twins Luke and Leia are two of the Star Wars series’ most famed characters, so it’s no surprise they’re on a coin together!

Darth Vader™ & Emperor Palpatine™ 50p

The eagerly awaited second coin in the UK Star Wars™ 50p series has finally been released, and this one takes us over to the Dark Side…

That’s right, the latest coin in the UK Star Warsseries features the deadly duo of Darth Vader™ and Emperor Palpatine™. A far cry from the loveable R2-D2™ and C-3PO™ who featured on the very first UK Star Warscoin.

This brand new UK 50p features enemies of the Rebel Alliance, Darth Vader™ and Emperor Palpatine™, as well as a special lenticular feature. On the Darth Vader™ and Emperor Palpatine™ 50p, this unique feature shows the symbol of the Galactic Empire when tilted one way, and the Death Star when tilted the other way.

We rarely see this minting technology on UK 50p coins, which is bound to add to the collectability of these already popular coins.

Darth Vader™ can be seen wielding his lightsaber in the foreground, whilst a cloaked Emperor Palpatine™ lurks in the background. In terms of villains in the Star Wars franchise, no duo is more memorable than Vader™ and Palpatine™, so it’s only fitting that they represent the Dark Side on this coin.

R2-D2 & C-3PO 50p

The collection began with a design featuring R2-D2™ and C-3PO™, which appeared on the first official UK coin dedicated to the iconic movie franchise.

This lovable duo can be seen inside the famed Millennium Falcon, but eagle-eyed collectors will notice a special feature appearing on this new 50p…

The Royal Mint seems to keep putting these collector sets into the forefront whilst ignoring the every day coins on the back burner. The current coins in circulation are dated and unpopular with many people. We need new designs for the coins. We have a new Monarch, so we need new coins to celebrate. The Shield coins are unpopular. These need to be melted down. We need more commemorative 50p, £1 & £2 for general circulation. The present £2 Britannia definitive is a beautiful coin, yet we only have 2015 & 2016 in circulation. In my view these collector series are a waste of time, never to be circulated pseudo coins.

Hi Keith, it is a shame that not as many new UK coins are entering circulation, however we do have the King Charles III Coronation 50ps to look forward to finding in our change later in the year!
It’s still great to see these commemorative coins issued for collectors in the mean time though.
      Kind regards, Kate

Extremely misleading to the point of telling lies. It’s not official and it’s not 50p. It’s just a worthless commemorative coin and the demand will be low because people are not idiots

    • Kate on July 12, 2023 at 9:01 am

Hi there, these 50p coins are officially licensed by Disney and Lucasfilm and have been issued by The Royal Mint. Although they won’t enter general circulation, they are legal UK tender.
      I hope that helps, Kate

    • Kate on July 10, 2023 at 12:30 pm

Hi, we would love to see new coins entering circulation, however these commemorative coins are still really popular with collectors!

      • Alan on August 3, 2023 at 12:13 pm

Hiya Kate, well I for one absolutely love these commemorative coins. I bought 2 complete sets of the .9999 silver coloured Harry Potter series and I have just this morning received my 1st .9999 silver coloured Star Wars coin, all encased in an acrylic block, absolutely stunning. My girls and grandchildren will be rubbing their hands together when I eventually my clogs, lol!

      • Kate on August 3, 2023 at 2:13 pm

Wow Alan, sounds like you’ve got a great collection there! 🙂
