All you need is faith, trust and a little bit of pixie dust… And a Peter Pan 50p!

The wait is finally over and it is with great excitement that we can reveal the brand new Isle of Man Peter Pan 50p coins to you all…

These amazing coins have been developed in partnership with Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity to celebrate 90 years since Peter Pan author, J.M. Barrie, gifted all future rights in Peter Pan to them.

Our friends at the Westminster Collection say, “It has been an honour working with this fantastic charity to create the WORLD’S FIRST Peter Pan 50ps, and for every coin sold a donation will go directly to GOSH Charity to support the hospital’s most urgent needs: fund support services, pioneering research, equipment and refurbishment.”

Peter Pan remains one of the most cherished and loved children’s stories of all time and as such demand for these new 50p coins is expected to be extremely high.

Whether you’re an avid 50p collector, a Peter Pan fan, or just a big kid at heart, I’m sure these coins are bound to sweep you off your feet.

The Official Peter Pan 50p Coin

All you need is faith, trust and a little bit of pixie dust... And a Peter Pan 50p!

The brand new Peter Pan 50p features an engraving of David Wyatt’s illustration from the Oxford University Press edition of Peter Pan, alongside a well-known and much loved quote from the book.

This is the first time ever that Peter Pan has featured on a 50p coin and I’m sure that this magical design will go down a treat with collectors, especially following the popularity of previous book character coins.

The COMPLETE Peter Pan 50p Set

All you need is faith, trust and a little bit of pixie dust... And a Peter Pan 50p!

Six coins have been created in total, each featuring a different quote and an accompanying specially commissioned design showcasing one of David Wyatt’s stunning illustrations from the Oxford University Press edition of Peter Pan.

Each coin is dedicated to a favourite character from the book, including Peter Pan, Captain Hook, Tick-Tock the Crocodile, Tinkerbell, Wendy and Nana.

Whilst I’m sure you’ll agree each design is truly beautiful, my personal favourite has got to be Tinkerbell! Let me know in the comments below which design you prefer.

But these coins aren’t just available in Brilliant Uncirculated quality; they will in fact be available in a range of other finishes too…

The Silver Proof Peter Pan 50p Coins

All you need is faith, trust and a little bit of pixie dust... And a Peter Pan 50p!

Struck in Sterling Silver to an immaculate Proof Finish, these coins feature an impressive full-colour illustration of the stunning designs, really bringing the magic of the story to life.

Silver Proof 50p’s are amongst the most sought-after new issues around and with JUST 10,000 of the individual Peter Pan Silver Proof 50p and JUST 1,995 of the Silver Proof set available worldwide, a sell-out is expected.

The Gold Proof Peter Pan 50p

All you need is faith, trust and a little bit of pixie dust... And a Peter Pan 50p!

This is the crème de la crème of the range you could say…

Struck from 22 Carat Gold to a perfect Proof Finish, JUST 500 lucky collectors worldwide will be able to own this prestigious new coin.

New Gold Proof 50p’s have a strong sell-out history and high demand is expected for the Gold Proof Peter Pan 50p.

The British Isles really have had some fantastic releases recently and I must say that these coins from the Isle of Man have got to be some of my favourites! But what do you think about these coins? Let us know in the comments below!

Add the 2019 Peter Pan 50p coins to your collection!

All you need is faith, trust and a little bit of pixie dust... And a Peter Pan 50p!

As a Westminster customer, and collector of coins and coin covers, I too agree that it is very frustrating to find limited edition items on sale on Ebay almost immediately after becoming advertised on the Westminster website, when genuine collectors miss out. Although there was information prior to issue that Peter Pan coins were to be produced, as far as I am aware, there was nothing to say that a PETER PAN COIN & STAMP COVER would become available at the same time. After spending considerable time trying to connect to the website to view the Peter Pan collection, and finding that all the 750 coin covers had already sold out, I am also disappointed and mystified as to how these Ebay sellers appear to have no problem in securing their requirements.

    • Rachel Hooper on June 17, 2019 at 11:41 am

Hi Ray, I’m really sorry that you weren’t able to secure the Peter Pan coin cover. It was incredibly popular and even though there was a household limit of 3 for this product, unfortunately there will always be a few people looking to make some quick cash on the secondary market. It is a real shame for the genuine collectors out there and once again I am sorry that you missed out this time.

    Hi Rachel,

Been reading some of the comments on here & it sounds like your having a hard time with some of the customers, if only they were to ring westminster collection direct they would get thro & get what they wanted & also be able to pay with no problem. I’ve been on here the last three days & had no problem in ordering what i wanted. Why do people think that the internet is the best way forward, obviously its not.

    Best Regards

    Pete

    • Rachel Hooper on June 13, 2019 at 1:36 pm

Thanks Pete, I think everyone is just very excited about the new coins and no one wants to miss out. Luckily the BU coins are unlimited, so when the website is less busy people will be able to order without any trouble 🙂

      • Peter Hunt on June 14, 2019 at 11:34 am

Great reply rachel, i love your coolness ☺

  3. lila on June 12, 2019 at 4:35 pm

these are Manx coins, ie Isle of Man legal tender = coins. Why shouldn’t someone buy a set to sell on, its not harming anyone and as the charity is receiving there donation from Westminster direct on each sale they are being helped. I love the fact that part of the cost is being sent to such a good cause.I just bought a set.

  4. Simon on June 12, 2019 at 11:28 am

My partner collects first day coin covers and looks daily for new issues, unable to buy Stephen Hawking and now Peter Pan. Why is it that these are now being sold on eBay sometimes several by the same seller. How do these people manage to secure several for profiteering before the rest of us even know that they are going to be released. Very disappointed with change checker and Westminster. Hope the people selling these are sending their profits to GOSH, don’t think so.

    • Rachel Hooper on June 12, 2019 at 1:42 pm

Hi Simon, really sorry to hear that you were unable to buy the Stephen Hawking and Peter Pan coins. We have a limit of 9 coins per household to try discourage people from buying multiples to sell on, but unfortunately you will always get the few that go on to sell the coins on the secondary market at higher prices.

      • Chris on June 12, 2019 at 8:14 pm

Why not limit the coins to just 5 per household then more people would have a chance of getting them. I tried to get them but I was wasting my time when it said I was 8544 in a queue!!

      • Rachel Hooper on June 13, 2019 at 8:21 am

Hi Chris, the brilliant uncirculated coins are unlimited, so there’s no rush to order them and you’ll be able to place your order once traffic to the site dies down.

  5. John England on June 12, 2019 at 9:56 am

These ‘coins’ are medallions. Note the intentional obscuring of the words ‘Isle of Man’ from the image of the obverse in the advertisement, and the ‘reassuring’ but misleading expression ‘legal tender’. These are not true ‘coins’ that can be spent in the normal way in either the Isle of Man or in the UK. From the investment point of view the ‘coins’ may eventually only be worth their metal (bullion) value which will be considerably less than their purchase price. Witness the £100 Big Ben silver coin issued several years ago by the Royal Mint that now sells on ebay at less than its purchase price.

    • Rachel Hooper on June 12, 2019 at 10:30 am

Hi John, these coins are legal tender and will be circulating in limited quantities on the Isle of Man at the end of June. Unfortunately they won’t be in our UK change and aren’t legal tender in the UK, but they are in fact coins. The British Isles, and in particular the Isle of Man, issue some really fantastic designs, which is why we wanted to share them with you. We haven’t tried to hide the fact that they are British Isles coins and you are under no obligation to buy them if you aren’t interested in collecting British Isles coins, but we do have many British Isles collectors who may wish to secure these coins.

      • Phil on June 12, 2019 at 2:38 pm

Sorry but YOU have tryed to hide the fact these are only legal tender in isle of man. Look at all of the complaints over these coins.

      • Rachel Hooper on June 12, 2019 at 3:01 pm

Hi Phil, we haven’t intended for people to think these are UK coins, which is why we have said in the blog that they are British Isles. We quite often create blogs about coins from different countries as we know many Change Checkers have international collections or are interested in the coins produced from different countries, for example the TT £2 coins from the Isle of Man which have been really popular with Change Checkers. The blog is intended to provide you with information about these new coins and you are under no obligation to purchase them. Sorry for any confusion. Thanks, Rachel

  6. Pottle on June 12, 2019 at 9:50 am

If I signed up to automatically get the uncirculated 50 pences, £2 and £5 coins will I be getting these ?

    • Rachel Hooper on June 12, 2019 at 10:27 am

Unfortunately as these are British Isles coins they are not included in the subscription service.

  7. Erick Taylor-Webb on June 12, 2019 at 9:36 am

just got myself the peter pan collection of 50p coins. i joined their postal service and lots of great coins to collect that are not here in the UK

  8. Clive on June 12, 2019 at 9:06 am

Still a queue this morning to get into the website. Surprised that the limited editions did not sell out yesterday given the lengthy queues I was in – maybe it was the issues people had completing their orders

  9. A on June 12, 2019 at 9:04 am

Are these going in to circulation ?

    • Rachel Hooper on June 12, 2019 at 9:33 am

25,000 of each design will enter circulation on the Isle of Man at the end of June.

      • Noreen on June 13, 2019 at 10:21 am

Do you know when in June, I’m actually on holiday in the Isle of Man next week (19, 20, 21). Will I be able to get some from the local bank / post office? Thanks

      • Rachel Hooper on June 13, 2019 at 12:01 pm

Hi Noreen, I don’t know the exact date, but it will be towards the end of the month. Fingers crossed you manage to find some!

  10. Annoyed on June 12, 2019 at 7:30 am

I’ve tried to purchase a set since yesterday!!! I’ve read up on the Westminster site and the reviews are not good so I tried removing my card details to avoid scams and I can’t? I’ve called my bank to cancel and replace my card as I’m now thinking this is a scam as I’ve attempted to pay more than a dozen times and it keeps asking me to enter new cards details! How many cards does someone have to register with this site!!

I’ll just wait till the coins come into circulation… at least THEY will be genuine

    • Rachel Hooper on June 12, 2019 at 9:15 am

Hi, I’m sorry to hear you’ve had trouble placing your Peter Pan 50ps. The site has been extremely busy with collectors trying to secure the coins. I can assure you that it is not a scam, but of course you are under no obligation to buy the coins. You can call our customer services on 0333 00 32 777 to ensure your order is cancelled. Unfortunately these coins are only entering circulation in limited quantities on the Isle of Man, so you won’t be able to find them in your UK change.

  11. Andrew Bailey on June 12, 2019 at 6:51 am

    Hi there
Just like to say it’s a bit annoying that the Peter pan set for the isle of man is going into circulation in the isle of man . yet all the latest sets of 50p & £2 in UK are only available to purchase . Seems a little unfair .

    • Rachel Hooper on June 12, 2019 at 9:28 am

Hi Andrew, unfortunately coins are only released for circulation based on demand and so whilst new designs are struck by The Royal Mint, stocks of those coins may not be called from Cash Centres, Post Offices and Banks if there is already enough of that denomination in circulation. Most British Isles coins are only released in very limited numbers due to their smaller population and understandably demand for cash varies between the UK and the British Isles. I do understand what you’re saying though and it would be great if we could see more coins going into circulation here.

  12. D on June 11, 2019 at 6:09 pm

    Yes

  13. Dave on June 11, 2019 at 5:58 pm

    Hi all!
I’ve had the same issues…the website wont let me pay.
Why are they creating this false hype? Obviously they dont want out money.

    • Rachel Hooper on June 12, 2019 at 8:51 am

Hi Dave, unfortunately the site has been really busy with some many collectors trying to order the Peter Pan coins. Once traffic dies down you will be able to place your order.

  14. Kath Bland on June 11, 2019 at 5:28 pm

How many coins are in the whole set please?

    • Rachel Hooper on June 12, 2019 at 8:53 am

Hi Kath, there are 6 coins in the set. Thanks, Rachel

  15. Jakvinder on June 11, 2019 at 4:32 pm

Can you buy each of the 6 coins individually or can you only purchase a set?

    • Rachel Hooper on June 11, 2019 at 5:01 pm

The flying Peter Pan coin can be purchased individually, but the others are only available as part of the set.

  16. Andrew on June 11, 2019 at 3:46 pm

Hi Rachel, can you order each of the 6 coins individually or only as a set?

    • Rachel Hooper on June 11, 2019 at 4:34 pm

The ‘Flying’ Peter Pan coin can be ordered individually but the others can only be ordered as part of the set.

  17. Peter Owen on June 11, 2019 at 2:56 pm

Are these coins legal tender ?

    • Rachel Hooper on June 11, 2019 at 4:35 pm

Hi Peter, these coins are legal tender on the Isle of Man. Thanks, Rachel

    • D on June 11, 2019 at 6:07 pm

      Yes

  18. Peter Embling on June 11, 2019 at 2:39 pm

I collect coins, but I won’t be collecting these because they are not coins. They are not being issued to be used as money = they are not coins. I don’t know why they are being called coins.

    • Rachel Hooper on June 11, 2019 at 4:37 pm

Hi Peter, these are coins and are in fact legal tender, but only on the Isle of Man. 25,000 of each design will be entering circulation on the Isle of Man at the end of June as well.

    • Phil on June 11, 2019 at 9:06 pm

I totally agree, you have hidden part of coin, is not legal tender here, i to was nearly dragged into buying them.

      • Rachel Hooper on June 12, 2019 at 8:59 am

Hi Phil, the coins are displayed in the same way we would display UK coins, but I apologise if the obverse is unclear. The coins are legal tender on the Isle of Man, as the blog states, but you are under no pressure to buy them. We just wanted to show you some of the fascinating coins produced by the British Isles and I’m sure you’ll agree the designs are lovely.

  19. Terry on June 11, 2019 at 2:25 pm

In my 23rd queue now I know Peter pan don’t get any older but I’m not the same. This must be the only site that won’t let me pay. Hopefully this time it will. I’m pulling my hair out here. Best regards to all and everyone keep trying.

    • Rachel Hooper on June 11, 2019 at 4:43 pm

I’m so sorry it’s taking you so long to be able to order the Peter Pan 50ps. As the site quietens down you will be able to place your order.

  20. Andy on June 11, 2019 at 1:52 pm

You’ve stated British Isles but is the issue Great Britain, Isle of Man or Channel Islands

    • Rachel Hooper on June 11, 2019 at 4:43 pm

Hi Andy, this coin will be issued on the Isle of Man.

  21. Mike Bentley on June 11, 2019 at 1:35 pm

Why do you hide the full obverse of these coins? Is it because the are not United Kingdom coins but are in fact Isle of Man? I am interested if they are United Kingdom as that is what I collect. So of course I would like to know who the issuer is before I waste any time attempting to order.

    • Rachel Hooper on June 11, 2019 at 4:45 pm

Hi Mike, as stated in the blog, this is a British Isles coin series, issued on the Isle of Man. Sorry if we weren’t clear with this.

  22. Andy Smith on June 11, 2019 at 1:32 pm

Are these Great Britain mintage or Isle of man or Channel Isles.

    • Rachel Hooper on June 11, 2019 at 4:46 pm

Hi Andy, these coins will be issued on the Isle of Man.

  23. Jim on June 11, 2019 at 11:41 am

Could you at least put the cost of the sets in the article.
I’d rather know how much I’m going to have to pay for the set before waiting 30 minutes plays in a queue.

    • Rachel Hooper on June 11, 2019 at 11:50 am

Hi Jim, that’s a fair point, I will add the prices in now. The flying BU coin is £6.25, the Bu set is £37.50, Silver Proof flying coin is £65, Silver set is £375 and the Gold Proof coin is £995.

  24. Kerry piercy on June 11, 2019 at 11:08 am

How can I purchase any of these coins

  25. Rich on June 11, 2019 at 10:06 am

    Love these designs they’re fantastic.

Do we know what the mintage numbers will be for the BU coins?

    • Rachel Hooper on June 11, 2019 at 11:15 am

Hi Rich, Brilliant Uncirculated coins are unlimited, but the Silver coin has an edition limit of 10,000 for the flying coin and just 1,995 for the set. The Gold coin has an edition limit of just 500! Lucky Change Checkers from the British Isles might be able to get hold of one too, as 25,000 of each design will be entering circulation on the Isle of Man.

      • Rich on June 11, 2019 at 3:09 pm

        Thank you for the info.
